On March 18, 2025, the IICT team will host a thematic seminar for HPC resource users specializing in the field of phylogeography. Phylogeography is a scientific discipline that examines the historical processes influencing the geographical distribution of genealogical lineages through the lens of genetics. This interdisciplinary scientific discipline bridges genetics, molecular biology, evolutionary biology, zoology, and forest ecology.
The seminar will showcase the computing infrastructure of IICT and the specialized software tools installed on the Avitohol supercomputer for phylogenetic genome analysis, population dynamics assessments of tree species, phylogeographic structures, and migration patterns.
The event will take place in person at the IICT-BAS building (Acad. G. Bonchev Str., bl. 25A), Hall 218, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
