On March 18, 2025, the team of IICT under the EUROCC2 project organized a thematic seminar for users of high-performance computing resources working in the field of phylogeography.
Phylogeography is a scientific discipline that studies the historical processes influencing the geographic distribution of genealogical lineages through the lens of genetics. This interdisciplinary field connects genetics, molecular biology, evolutionary biology, zoology, and forest ecology.
The event was held in person at the IICT-BAS building (Acad. G. Bonchev St., Bl. 25A), Room 218, from 14:00 to 15:30. Young researchers from BAS institutes working in this field attended the seminar.
During the seminar, the computational infrastructure of IICT-BAS and specialized software tools, such as Migrate-n, NOVOPlasty, and fastp, installed on the Avitohol supercomputer for phylogenetic genome analysis, were presented. Scripts for working with these software tools were demonstrated in both sequential and parallel environments.
