The international conference “Global Security Transformation towards 2040: Transcendents in the Age of AI” was held in the beautiful historical building of the Military Club in Sofia on 8th of May 2025. The event was organized by the Institute of ICT, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences & AOR “Atlantic” and gathered experts from public administration and SMEs in the domains of IT and security/defense.

Professor Emanouil Atanassov (IICT) presented “Prospects for the Evolution of HPC Technology”, with emphasis on the potential security and cybersecurity impacts of the newer HPC developments. The presentation was important in setting the background for the round-table AI-assisted discussion, where aspects of the regional security and applications of HPC and AI in relation to cyber threats and autonomous systems usage in the military were discussed. Multiple representatives of SMEs and public administration expressed interest in the work of Bulgarian National Competence Centre (built in the framework of EU projects EuroCC1/2) and further actions were discussed and planned.
