On 26 October 2025, UNWE hosted a specialized training session titled BDA1.1 “Big Data Analytics”, bringing together researchers, and representatives from the business, interested in modern data-driven solutions. The event focused on the foundations, methods, and technological ecosystem that enable organizations to transform vast and complex datasets into strategic value. The participants were guided through the essentials of big data—from theory to hands-on understanding of modern technologies. The definition and characteristics of Big Data, and
the insights into how analytics transforms raw data into actionable knowledge and supports data-driven strategies, were discussed. The learners were also introduced to analytical paradigms, statistical methods, machine learning workflows, and distributed processing principles that enable the handling of massive data volumes. An overview of the technologies that form the backbone of big data ecosystems (Hadoop, NoSQL databases, MapReduce, YARN) was made. Advantages and best practices, as well as challenges and development trends were considered. The training highlighted the rapidly growing importance of analytics literacy across industries. Through interactive discussions, participants strengthened their understanding of how large-scale data ecosystem’s function and how these technologies can be applied in domains such as IoT, finance, smart devices, and social networks.
